Christ Above All

Christ Above All
The introduction study from Colossians 1 and the ongoing study from the book of Hebrews will demonstrate without a doubt that Christ is Above and Better than all. Hebrews is a full-length sermon that is meant to encourage the discouraged and disillusioned among us. Jewish Christians were weary in well doing just like us. They longed for the comfort of their past life and feared the uncertainty brought on by persecution. Some were ready to give up. Hebrews was written to cheer them on until the end of their life's race. Join us for a "better" journey made possible by the One who is above all and better than all!

Pictures Only Jesus Could Paint

Pictures Only Jesus Could Paint (a brief study of select parables)
Jesus is the smartest man who has ever walked this planet. Many think of Jesus as super spiritual but naive, and bit out of touch with reality. He knows how things ought to be but does not pick up on how things really are. But here is the fact. Jesus IS “street-smart.” He knows the score and what is happening here. And this truth comes out most clearly when Jesus is painting word pictures in His parables.
The word “parable” in the Greek language means “to cast alongside.” It is a portrait of something familiar to us that is then likened to something unfamiliar to us. In the words of Jared Wilson, “…parables are designed to stir those whose antennae are tuned to their frequencies, and to confound those whose antennae are not.”
Join us for a three part series from the book of Matthew on some parables that paint a picture only Jesus could paint. We will discover just how “street smart” Jesus really is.

"Stuff" Only Jesus Could Do

"Stuff" Only Jesus Could Do (a brief study on select miracles)
We have science, technology, labs, and rationalized thinking so we have firmly but politely dismissed miracles as folk-lore and immature superstition. We find the thought of miracles as quaint and exciting as the feats of the fictional superman, batman, spider-man, and all the other “mans” that stretch our incredulity.
But the Bible speaks of miracles as very real stuff. Jesus, claiming to be God, shows up on the scene and does repeatedly what only God could do.
Now the miracles of Jesus were not performed to prove anything but to show something. Jesus does not need to prove He is God…He just shows us He is by doing stuff only God could do. Nicodemus fell somewhat short of this when he confessed that many of them knew Jesus was a teacher that came from God. But Nicodemus saw only one small piece of the pie.
During this three part series we are going to look at some select miracles of Jesus from the book of Luke. These miracles are the stuff of Deity! Our appreciation for the uniqueness of Jesus’ person, life, and ministry cannot help but grow and change as we pause and watch Him do what only God can do!

Words Only Jesus Could Say
Words Only Jesus Could Say
It is easy to say some things but at times difficulty to back up our words with actions. Jesus never had that problem. The mighty God/Man spoke truth in His words and carried out that truth in His actions. As we listen to Jesus speak in Scripture we are quick to discover that there are some things only Jesus could say. For instance, Jesus said "I AM the resurrection..." who else could say that and carry it out? Jesus said, "he that believes in Me shall have everlasting life". Can anyone say that and pull it off in our world... apart from Jesus?
We are going to look at one brief text of Scripture that reveals words only Jesus could say. The words He speaks are in context of a conversation He is having with Thomas the disciple about the future. Thomas asks a question and Jesus answers in words only He could say.

Good News Only Jesus Could Give
The Good News only Jesus could give - "Freedom - Found"
The Gospel is good news that only Jesus could give. It is the message that in the death of Christ and His burial and resurrection we are set free - "unshackled" from our sins. You are only free from sin when you come to Christ. All other ways of living and believing keep you in bondage to your sin. Paul will explain to us that the truths of the Gospel change us from inside out. Paul will teach us what the true Gospel really is and how it works in the everyday life of the believer to make us free and keep us free.
